Punjab, Sarkanda is a wild grass grown in swamps. Its botanical name is Saccharum Spontaneum. This grass is interwoven with date-palm leaf to make spiral baskets, which is a craft work in Punjab. It is also used in building huts, in which circular shaped roofs of different sizes are made. Hand fan, commonly known as Peshawari Pakkha, is a handmade product. Carpets, curtains, house hold articles and furniture are made from Sarkanda.
