Jalandhar District of
Punjab is famous for the sportsmen and sports good industry. It is named after Jalandhar, a demon king. It is surrounded by the districts of
Ludhiana in the east,
Kapurthala in the west,
Hosiharpur in the north and
Ferozepur in the south. The district covers an area of about 3,401 sq km with a population of around two million.
Jalandhar is located between the two rivers Beas and Sutlej. It has an 800 year old monument of Imam Nasir Mausoleum, Devi Talab Mandir, and a 400 year old
Jama Masjid. The main tourist attractions are Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum, Jalandhar Cantonment, Shiva Mandir, Serai Nurmahal,
Nakodar,
Kartarpur, and Khatkar Kalan.
