Lachha Paratha

Lachha Paratha is a multi-layered whole wheat bread with melted butter, baked in the tandoor. It is called so because of the ring shaped layers created in the process of making the dough ball. To get its right texture, dough for lachha paratha is rolled, made into rope and re-rolled thrice and then cooked. This versatile flat bread pairs with almost any lentil, vegetable or meat preparation. A classic combination in the northern state of Punjab is Dal Makhani (black lentils cooked slowly with ghee and cream for several hours) and lachha paratha.
