National Highway 21 links the union territory of
Chandigarh with the hill station of
Manali in
Himachal Pradesh. This 323 km-long road spans across Chandigarh,
Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. National Highway 21 starts at the junction with
National Highway 22 at Chandigarh and passes westwards. It travels 24 km in Chandigarh, before crossing over to Punjab.
Few kilometers into Punjab, the highway becomes north-bound and runs past Rupnagar,
Bharatgarh and Kiratpur Sahib, before again turning direction and entering Himachal Pradesh near Kundlu. The highway is 67 km-long in Punjab.
In Himachal Pradesh, National Highway 21 continues its way north, past the towns of Bilaspur, Mandi, Aut, Kullu and Katrain, before terminating at Manali. Govind Sagar Lake, Bhuntar and Nagar are some of the tourist spots on or near the highway. The National Highway 21 has a total length of 232 km in Himachal Pradesh.
