Kaithal District




Kaithal District is situated in north-west Haryana. It has a total area of 2,317 sq km. It is referred in the Mahabharata, Puranas, and the Vedas. The name Kaithal is derived from the name of Kapisthala Rishi, the compiler of Yajurveda Katha Samhita.

Various agro and processing industries are functioning in Kaithal District. Major crops are cotton, gram, wheat, maize, and jowar. Kaithal has one sacred spot after every six villages of tourist importance. It is famous for temples, mutts, sanatoriums, and Gurdwaras. Ruins of fort of the bhais and several Mohammedan tombs of the 13th century can be viewed in Kaithal.
