Ludhiana is the most centrally located district which falls in the Malwa region of
Punjab. It covers an area of about 3,762 sq km. It is bounded in the north by the river
Sutlej, district of
Rupnagar in the east,
Ferozepur and
Faridkot in the west,
Sangrur in the south and
Patiala in the south-east.
Most part of Ludhiana is broad plain, without hills or rivers. The principal crops are wheat, millets, pulse, maize and sugarcane. The major places of interest are Rakh Bagh Park,
Nehru Rose Garden, Tiger Safari, Sarai at
Doraha, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, Gurdwara Charan Kanwal and Gurdwara Nanaksar Sahib at Jagraon.
