Bassian Kothi is a 200-year-old monument of Sikh heritage at
Bassian in
Ludhiana District. It was basically an advance supply depot of the British military division based at Ferozepore.
It was here that the last Sikh ruler, Maharaja Dalip Singh, spent a major part of his exile in the mid-ninteenth century. Five Namdharis who participated in the famous Kuka movement against the British were also imprisoned here before being hanged in 1850.
After independence it served as a guest house of the irrigation department of the district. But today it is deserted and lies in a dilapidated condition due to age and neglect.
