Amrit Sarovar is a holy pond situated at
Amritsar in
Punjab. The
Golden Temple stands on a rectangular platform in the center of the Amrit Sarovar. A large number of people from all over India come here to take a holy dip in the lake.
The plan to built Amrit Sarovar was laid by Guru Amar Das and was constructed under the supervision of Baba Budha ji. The city of Amritsar is named after this lake.
