Aberdeen lies south-west of
Port Blair. It is located at a latitude of 11° 40' 0" N and longitude of 92° 43' 60" E in the
Andaman District.
The major tourist attraction is the
Andaman Water Sports Complex. There are saline water swimming pools and also an artificial waterfall nearby. Another tourist attraction is the memorial built to commemorate the Battle of Aberdeen which was fought between the British and indigenous inhabitants of Andaman in May, 1859, in which many Andamanese died. The Aberdeen Bazaar is another place of interest.
The nearby cities and towns are Namunaghar in the west, Haddo in the north and Shadipur in the south.
The nearest airbase is
Vir Savarkar Airport from where direct flight services are available to
Chennai and
Kolkata.
