Sital Sasthi

Sital Sasthi is celebrated mainly in the Brahmin villages of Orissa. It is the marriage ceremony of Lord Shiva with Goddess Parvathi. This week long festival, celebrated amidst much pomp and splendor, is organized in the month of June.

Sital Sasthi is celebrated on grand scale in Loknath Temple at Puri, Lingaraj Temple at Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur.

Thousands of people from the neighboring states of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh also gather in this auspicious event.
