Ranipur-Jharial, an important archeological site, is located 104 km from
Balangir and 35 km from Titilagarh. This region was also known as Somatirtha. Shaiva, Buddhist, Tantrik and Vaishnava influences can be traced here.
A number of temples are situated on the rocky outcrops of this region. Hypaethral 64 Yogini Temple, Leharigudi Temple, Someswar Temple, Ranipur Mound and Indralath Brick Temple are few of them. The river Tong or Tong Jor, a tributary of Tel, flows nearby.
