Rajhans Island is a small island on the
Chilika Lake, Asia's largest brackish water lake. This island is named after the famous bird, ‘Rajhans’.
Rajhans island is bordered on one side by a lagoon and on the other by the ocean, with a forest and mountains in between. The beach is always a visual treat, with the beautiful scene of the confluence of the Chilika Lake and the
Bay of Bengal and sandy shore lined with casuarina trees and dotted with crabs.
Rajhans remains one of the few unspoiled islands and is a haven for the birds, crabs, dolphins and other wild and water life.
A short boat journey across the Chilika Lake from Satapada (alternatively spelt Satapara), takes visitors to this island. The island is 18 km from Satapada.
Puri Railway Station is 50 km from Satapada.
