Bhawanipatna, the administrative headquarters of
Kalahandi District, is a temple town situated 418 km west of
Bhubaneswar, in
Orissa. The town derived its name from ‘Bhawanishankar', its presiding deity.
Scores of temple, representing the different deities of Hindu pantheon, dot the townscape.
Bhawanipatna is a convenient base for tourists venturing to different tourist places in the district and the nearby district of Nuapada. Places of tourist interest include
