Mridangam




The Mridangam is a percussion instrument popularly used in the Carnatic classical music. A double-sided drum, it can produce a variety of tones. Heavy wood coupled with multi-layered heads helps the instrument in producing a very bright sound. Other elements present in its body are goat skin, high pitch operture, and a black disk made of flour and ferric oxide powder.
