Ambikapur, situated in Northern hilly regions of
Chhattisgarh, is the administrative headquarters of
Sarguja District. The place is noted for its diverse flora, thick forests and the undulating topography and hence is a major tourist locale in the district. Ambikapur is around 350 km north-east of
Raipur.
Places of tourist interest include Mahamaya temple, Kendai waterfall (85 km), Ramgarh, Tatapani, Tamor Pingla Wildlife Sanctuary and Semarsot Sanctury.
Nearest airport is at Raipur. Bishrampur Railway Station, around 26 km east, is the nearest railhead. Nearest major railhead is Anuppur Junction Railway Station.
