Jamshedpur, founded by the late Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata, is on the National Highway 32. This major city in Jharkhand is 140 km from Ranchi and is a major tourist center.

The city is an ideal stopover for tourists, pilgrims and trekkers to the Himalayas. Jubilee Park, Tata Zoological Park, Jayanti Sarowar, Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary and TELCO Bhuwaneswari Temple are the main attractions. Other places of interest around Jamshedpur are Bokaro, Deogarh, and Dhanbad.

Jamshedpur is an industrial city, sometimes called Steel City, with major industries such as iron and steel, truck manufacturing, tinplate production, and other small and medium scale Industries. Home to the TATA group of industries, it is also called Tatanagar. In 1908 India’s first integrated iron and steel mill was established here Jamshedji Tata. One of India's premier business schools, XLRI, is also situated here. Jamshedpur is also rich in mineral resources.

Jamshedpur is well-linked by rail and road to other cities and towns. The city has tropical climate. The best season to visit is October to March.
