Subhadra was the daughter of Vasudeva and the sister of
Lord Krishna and
Lord Balram. In the Mahabharat, she was the wife of Arjuna to whom she bore a son, Abhimanyu. Balram wished to give Subhadra to
Duryodhana, but Arjuna eloped with her from Dwaraka at Krishna’s suggestion. Later Balram acceded to the relation.
Subhadra has an extreme intimacy towards Krishna in his form, Jagannath. During the rath yatras (chariot festival) of Jagannath, idols of Subhadra and Balram accompany him to show the intimacy of the brother and sister.
