Ungma is a historic village situated 10 km south of
Mokokchung, the district headquarters of
Mokokchung District in
Nagaland. It is the second largest ancient Ao village of great tourist interest to peep into the folklore, customs and traditions of
Ao Naga tribe.
Legend is that, the early Aos settled here after coming from Chungliyimti. An old log-drum in the village is worth visiting. Ungma celebrates most of the traditional festivals with much pomp and splendor.
The nearest airport is at Dimapur (200 km).
Mariani Junction Railway Station in Assam is the closest railway station. Mokokchung is linked with Kohima (160 km), Jorhat (105 km) and Dimapur.
