Vaibel is a smoking pipe used by the men belonging to the Lushai tribe of
Mizoram. It is constructed from a bamboo species, locally known as ‘tursing.’
A solid bamboo piece measuring 50 mm in diameter is chosen for making this pipe. The part above the node is used as the bowl to hold the tobacco. A hole is borrowed in through the center of the node. A thin bamboo stem is inserted into this hole. The bottom is sealed with a piece of dry gourd.
