A village in
Lunglei District of
Mizoram, Pangzawl is about 75 km from
Lunglei.
This village is associated with a tragic tale of a young girl named Chawngungim, who was very beautiful. Many young men came forward to marry her, but the high bride price demanded by her mother was affordable to none. Ultimately, Sawngkhara, the chief’s son, won her using a magic drug, which in turn led to the death of Chawngungim. The grief-stricken Sawngkhara spent rest of his life mourning the death of his beautiful wife.
