East Garo Hills District




East Garo Hills District lies in the western part of Meghalaya, spanning an area of 2,603 sq km. Williamnagar is the district headquarters. Heavy rainfall and high humidity are the normal climate. Garo is the principal language.

Festivals of East Garo Hills District are mostly connected with agricultural harvests. Wangala is the most important festival of East Garo Hills District. Tasek Lake and Rong’bang Dare Waterfall are the major tourist attractions. Other attractions include Dainadubi, Mendipathar, Nongalbibra, Nongchram, Rajasimla, Resubelpara, the town of Williamnagar, Rongrengiri and Darugiri Reserve Forest.
