David Scott Monument is located at
Cherrapunji. Built in memory of David Scott, an agent to the Governor of Bengal for the North Eastern Frontiers of Bengal and Commissioner of Revenue Circuits of Assam, it is a huge brick structure with inscriptions on it.
At Guwahati is the nearest airport, about 129 km from Shillong. Buses ply between Shillong and Cherrapunjee. Being a restricted area, travelers who intend to visit must apply for a permit from the Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi.
