Chitmang Peak is situated in the
South Garo Hills District of
Meghalaya. This peak appears like the back of a bull.
Belief of the Garos is that, the spirits of the deceased passes through this peak. With a height of 1,029 m, it is locally known as Waimong. Wai meaning 'God' and Mong meaning 'very big' gives the peak the name Great God. Another name is Kailas and the Simsang River runs through the foothills of this peak.
