Shirui Kashung or Shiroi Peak is in the Shiroi village, 18 km east of the
Ukhrul District headquarters and 103 km from
Imphal. This peak is renowned for the abundant growth of the beautiful Shirui Lily, the official flower of
Manipur. The flower is found here for a couple of months following every mid May. The peak is so called by the
Tangkhuls, because the height of the peak is so high among the other mounts. It has an elevation of 2500 m with beautiful grassland on the top and thick forest at the foot. The peak is part of the Shirui-Kashong range, proposed to be the National Park under the Wild Life Protection Act 1972. This area is also inhabited by endangered bird species like the Blyth's Tragopan and Mrs. Hume's Bar-backed Pheasant or Nongyin, Manipur's state bird.
