Ukhrul, the district headquarters of
Ukhrul District, is 83 km north-east of Imphal. A beautiful hill town, Ukhrul lies at the altitude of 6000 ft. Ukhrul is dotted with lily flowers and this presents and awe-inspiring sight.
Ukhrul is the home of the Tankhul Nagas, the warrior tribes. Tourist places include Shirui Kashung (Shiroi Peak), Khankhui Cave, Hundung Mangva Cave, Dilily Water Fall near Khayang Phungtha and Azoa Jenephiu Magi Lake near Kachouphung.
It takes about three hrs by bus to reach Ukhrul from Imphal. Breathtaking views all along the way transfers one to a magical world. Trips are arranged to Ukhrul by State Tourism Board.
