Churachandpur District




Churachandpur District is situated in the south-western corner of Manipur and covers an area of 4,570 sq km. The place got the name “Churachandpur” from the Manipur king Churachand Maharaja. It has a population of over 200,000. Churachandpur is inhabited by several tribes, mainly the Kuki-Chin-Mizo group. The climate is temperate and salubrious. The main occupations are agriculture, animal husbandry and weaving.
