Vidarbha Region




Vidarbha Region is the north-western part of Maharashtra, including Nagpur District and Amaravati District. To unite the Marathi speaking areas, Vidarbha was transferred to the erstwhile state of Mumbai in 1956. Later in 1960, when Maharashtra was split into Gujarat and Maharashtra, Vidarbha became part of Maharashtra. The main crop is cotton. Orange is the main fruit here. Nagpuri Language and Marathi are the two main languages spoken in this region.
