Panch National Park, established in 1975, is situated about 80 km north of
Nagpur, in
Nagpur District,
Maharashtra. Spread over an area of 257 sq km, it is a natural habitat for a variety of flora and fauna. The vegetation here is mostly of the southern tropical deciduous forest type.
Panch National Park derives its name after the Panch River, which meanders through the entire stretch of the park.
Major animal species found here include tiger, leopard, Gaur, barking deer, chital, Sambar, four-horned antelope, Nilgai and sloth bear. Grey jungle fowl and peafowl are the major bird species found here.
The best time to visit the park is from April to May.
Ramtek Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Sonegaon Airport is the nearest airport, which is at a distance of 6 km from Nagpur.
