Tarkarli is 6 km south of
Malvan in
Sindhudurg District. It is very famous for its long and narrow stretch of
beach. It is an ideal picnic spot where one can see wide river banks, beautiful sail boats and tall Shuru trees.
Accommodation facilities are available at the resort of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) located near the beach. Other important tourist attractions at Tarkarli include the forts of Sindhudurg and Padmagarh.
The village can be accessed easily from Malvan by bus. The nearest rail head is at Kudal on the Konkan railway line.
