The prime attraction is Sindhudurg Fort, which was once the coastal capital and naval base of Chhatrapati Shivaji. Built on a low rocky island near Malvan, the fort stands as a testimony of the supremacy of the Maratha Empire. Another landmark is Shivarajeshwar Temple, erected by Rajaram – the son of Shivaji – in memory of his father. The spot is a paradise for trekkers.
Vijaydurg Fort, Malvan Beach, Malvan Marine Sanctuary and Padamgarh Fort are the other tourist attractions, within easy reach from Sindhudurg. Malvan to the north, Kudal to the east and Devnag to the south are among the neighboring places.
