Shiv Samartha Fort




Shiv Samartha Fort is the prime attraction of Dervan village, which is about 12 km from Chiplun in Ratnagiri District of Maharashtra. At the entrance of the fort, there are statues of Mavales (soldiers) who are guarding the fort and two huge elephants. The fort houses a Shiva temple with images of Shivaji Maharaj, Sant Tukaram Maharaj,Sant Namdev Maharaj. Numerous paintings and sculptures illustrating the occasions of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s crowning ceremony, taking an oath at Rohideshwari, praying to Goddess Jagdamba, Jijamata pointing finger towards Kondana can also be found inside the fort. All sculptures are made from cement. Entrance to the temple is permissible only in Indian dress. Shiv Jayanti is the main festive occasion, and accommodations are provided at the time of this three day festival.
