Shivaji in 1673 and later on by the Mughal emperor
Aurangzeb in 1700. During his reign, Aurangzeb altered its name as Azimtara. Parali or
Sajjangad fort, which functioned as the residence of Saint Ramdas (Guru of Shivaji) is nearby.
