Rusty-spotted Cat (Felis rubiginosus) is a small, slender cat with a long tail, and short and rounded ears. The length of the head and body is around 35 to 48 cm. The head is short and rounded.
There are several dark stripes on the forehead and two dark streaks on each cheek. The cat has whitish chin and cheek, pink nose pad and grayish brown iris. Pupils are contracting into vertical ovals. Tail is about half of body length. The soles of the feet are black.
The coat is short and soft, and marked with brown or rushy bars, and spots arranged in more or less regular lines. The belly and the inner sides of the legs are white with large dark spots.
The animal can be seen in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra.
