Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary




Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Murud and Roha talukas of Raigad District in Maharashtra.

It extends over on area of about 53 sq km and represents a coastal woodland ecosystem of Western Ghats. The sanctuary supports panther, sambar deer, wild boar, barking deer and hyena.

Visitors can also trek through a nature trail located at Supegaon (7 km from Nandgaon) and visit the Nature Interpretation Centre at Majgaon. The best time to visit is October to April.

The airport close to the sanctuary is at Mumbai (160 km). Roha Railway Station is the nearest railhead, 30 km away. Alibag is 50 km away.
