Pawas is a beautiful place located about 16 km from
Ratnagiri, in
Maharashtra. Major point of attraction here is the
Swami Swaroopanand Ashram. Swami Swaroopanand was a spiritual leader who stayed here for a period of 40 years and influenced an entire generation of Maharashtrians.
Swamiji’s samadhi on the Avala tree and the house 'Anant Niwas' where Swami Swaroopanand stayed are also worth visiting.
State transport buses ply from Mumbai, Kolhapur and Pune to Ratnagiri and also from Ratnagiri to Pawas via Bhatye. Ratnagiri Railway Station, on the Konkan Railways, is the convenient railhead.
