Prachitgad




Prachitgad is a fort built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at a strategic location in Sangameshwar Taluk, as an outpost against external aggression. This fort is located in Tivareghera village at a great elevation.

Prachitgad fort attained tourist importance from its rare collection of canons and swords. Located in the middle of a dense forest, the fort is surrounded on all four sides by high cliffs. Visitors can get a commanding view of Ratnagiri from there. The cool streams of Paj area, full even in summer, is a peculiar feature of the forests at Prachitgad. The fort is divided into 7 parts. There are 7 small lakes in the fort and a temple. The temple has an idol of Goddess Bhavani. The fort covers a large open area. Prachitgad attracts visitors for its natural beauty and antiquity.
