Pilkhan is situated on the way from Umri to Jodmoha, past Mohoda and around 14 km before reaching Jodmoha, in Yavatmal District. Yavatmal lies about 35 km north-west of Pilkhan.
Painganga Wildlife Sanctuary and Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary are enticing wilderness spots suitable for short excursions. Chintamani of Kalamb, Mahadeo Temple at Moho village and Sahastrakund Waterfalls are other places of tourist interest around.
