Paunar is a historical village situated on the banks of the Dham River, in
Wardha District of
Maharashtra. It was named after the Rajput king Pawan. Paunar is about 3 km from
Sevagram and 8 km north of
Wardha.
Places of tourist interest are the Gandhi Kuti and the Paramdham Ashram. Besides these, there is another memorial where Vinoba’s ashes were found. Thousands of people throng here on 12th February to celebrate the anniversary of Gandhi’s death.
Wardha Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. Regular buses connect Paunar with Nagpur and Wardha.
