Nandurbar District




Nandurbar District was formed by the division of Dhule District. With an area of 108,224 hectare, it has a population of over 1.3 million. The climate is generally hot and dry. Nandurbar receives an annual rainfall of about 60 cm. The principal food crops are jowar, wheat, rice, tur and groundnut. Adivasi Pawara dance and Songadya Party are its distinguished socio-cultural features. The languages spoken are Marathi, Ahirani and Adivasi.

The Toranmal hill station is the major tourist attraction. Other tourist places are Prakasha, Toranmal Shiv temple, Dattatreya temple, Hidimba's forest, Machhindranath cave, Pushpadanteshwara sugar factory, Walheri Taloda, Satpuda Hills and fort of Akka Rani.
