Indra Teerth is among the famous pilgrim spots in
Nasik District of
Maharashtra. It is situated near the
Kushavarta Teerth on the
Nasik-
Trimbakeshwar route. The teerth is constructed with cut stone in octagonal shape by Vishnu Mahadev Gadre in 1778.
This Teerth is renowned as Shakra-Kupa for Lord Indra (the king of Gods) wiped off his curse given by the sage Gautam for enjoying Ahilya, by a bath in this teerth.
A beautiful temple of Indreshwar Mahadev with an idol of Indra seated on Airavata is on the bank of this teerth.
State buses ply frequently between Nasik and Trimbakeshwar. The nearest railhead is Nasik Road Railway Station.
