Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary is located at
Niphad in
Nasik District,
Maharashtra.
A paradise for bird lovers, the sanctuary is home to migratory and resident birds such as white stork, glossy ibis, spoonbills, flamingos, goose Brahminy duck, pintails, mallard, widgeon, pilchards, cranes, curlews, godwits, and weavers. A numerous other birds such as black ibis, spot bills, teals, little grebe, cormorants, egrets, herons, stork, kites, vultures, buzzards, harriers, osprey, quails, partridges, eagles, water hens, sand pipe, swifts, gray hornbill and peafowl are also spotted.
December to March is ideal to visit the sanctuary. Khangaon Thadi about 12 km from Niphad is the ideal base camp to explore the sanctuary.
Aurangabad Airport is the closest airport, about 180 km away. Niphad Railway Station is the nearest railhead, about 12 km away.
