MVIRDC World Trade Centre, situated at
Cuffe Parade in
Mumbai, is an organization serving as a base for numerous business entities and government agencies involved in international trade and commerce. It was established by a renowned scientist, Dr M Visveswaraya, who setup the parent company called M Visveswaraya Industrial Research and Development Centre (MVIRDC) in 1970. MVIRDC received a formal recognition as a World Trade Centre by becoming a member of the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), New York, in 1971.
MVIRDC World Trade Centre offers a wide variety of services to the various government and industrial bodies via the facilities available in its two adjacent towers, conveniently named Centre 1 and Centre 2.
Centre 1 contains 35 floors, housing the executive offices of the World Trade Centre and the offices of various organizations involved in international trade and businesses. There are also offices of international trade representatives, export promotion councils, travel and cargo agents and financial institutions.
Centre 2 is a 26-storeyed building containing the offices of the Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI). This banking organization is committed in supporting the operations of the World Trade Centre. On the first floor of this tower is ‘The Arcade,’ which is a 2,500 sq mr space housing a wide variety of shops and showrooms. This floor also contains the stalls belonging to various state governments, which showcases the unique cultural richness of each region in India. Apart from these, there are various facilities like banking, postal services and travel agencies. Storage spaces of about 125 sq m and a freight elevator are the major highlights of this floor.
The nearest railhead is the Churchgate Railway Station and the Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) Railway Station. Nearest access point by air is the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
