Sewri, also pronounced 'Shivdi', is situated at the eastern shore of
Mumbai and is east of
Parel. It is about 5 km south-east of
Dadar.
There is an 18th century fort located at Sewri. Large parts of Sewri belong to the Bombay Port Trust and are incorporated into its harbor facilities. Mangrove swamps around Sewri has been declared a protective ecology since 1996.
Sewri Railway Station is located on the Sandhurst Road – Cotton Green rail route of Mumbai Suburban Railways.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is about 20 km north-west of Sewri. Nearest major railhead is Dadar Central Railway Station. Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station is around 8 km south.
