Patrani Machhi

Patrani Machhi is a fish delicacy from Parsi community. In this dish, fish is coated with coconut-cilantro chutney, wrapped around a green plantain leaf, and steamed to perfection. Adding oil, water and vinegar adds a special taste and unique fragrance. ‘Pomfret’, the fish with which it is always associated, is normally used. In this recipe, lettuce leaves substitute for the traditional banana leaves. This traditional Parsi food is extremely popular in Mumbai, India’s financial center, where fish and coconuts are fresh and abundant.
