Maqbool Fida Hussain, popularly known as Picasso of India, was born at
Pandharpur in
Maharashtra on September 17, 1915, to Fida Hussain and Zunaib. His most popular art creation is the painting of an eminent Hindustani classic singer,
Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. Christ and the lamb, Women with Roosters and
Mother Teresa are his other renowned paintings. Hussain is also the constructor of several art museums including Hussain Sankalana, Hussain Gufa and Hussain ki Sarai. He was awarded the Golden Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival for his symbolic film, Through the Eyes of a Painter.
Inspired by the beauty of the famous cine-artist Madhuri Dixit, he made a series of outstanding paintings. Hussain has proved his talent in film-making too. Gajagamini was his debut film.
