Kandivli is a fast developing residential area in the northern suburbs of
Mumbai. It is located 3 km south of
Borivali and 2 km north of
Malad.
Kandivli heralds much archaeological importance; Paleolithic stone implements unearthed from here points to a possible human settlement as early as Stone Age. The Three Jain Idols, located in the far eastern part of Kandivli, is a place of historical interest.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Kanheri Caves, Tulsi and Vihar lakes and Essel World and Water Kingdom, Asia’s largest water park at Gorai Creek, are some other tourist spots in the vicinity.
Mahindra and Mahindra, one of India’s leading automobile manufacturers, has a unit at Kandivli.
Kandivli Railway Station is located on the Andheri – Dahisar suburban rail line of Western Railways. It is 32 km north of Churchgate.
Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport is about 14 km south. Nearest major railhead is Dadar Central Railway Station, which is 25 km south.
