Established in 1942, the Amateur Riders' Club in
Mumbai is one of the oldest riding clubs in India. It offers basic to advanced instruction in riding, polo, dressage, show jumping and tent pegging. The club conducts mounted sports, coaching camps, out rides to different places and social events.
The club has 3 riding schools and a polo ground. The stables accommodate about 100 horses belonging to the club and its members. The club house has air conditioned recreational facilities and a snack shop. A small air conditioned room is available for the guest of members. The small library contains books and videos on horses and allied literature.
Amateur Riders' Club conducts annual horse show and polo tournaments during the month of Mar/April, every year. Gymkhana races are held in every May. Members can bring guests for riding. Memberships are also available for foreigners.
The club office is located on the Mahalaxmi Railway Station end of the parking lot of the RWITC. The riding grounds are within the race track of the RWITC, about 1.5 km from the stables.
