Matsya Purana was narrated by
Matsya, an incarnation of
Lord Vishnu, to Manu. It has 14,000 verses. Among the
18 puranas, the Matsya Purana is numbered sixteen.
It describes the greatness of the incarnation of Narasimha and talks about observances like Anant Tritiya and pilgrimage places like Prayag. It describes Kalpa and Yugas. It also deals with appearance of idols, immolation of Kamadeva and a detail narration about the major happenings in the life of Lord Shiva.
Matsya Purana is gifted along with a golden image of a fish at the time of Visuva.
