Located in
Jalgaon District, Chalisgaon is a small city of
Maharashtra and is 350 km northeast of
Mumbai. It lies near the confluence of Dongri and Tittur rivers, which further flow to meet the Girna River. The city is bordered by the Ajanta mountain ranges on the south and is mainly divided into two parts, the old and the new cities. Agriculture is the main source of income and the main cash crops are sugarcane, cotton and banana.
Patnadevi Temple built in Hemadpanti architecture and the caves in the jungle near the temple are the places that are worth visiting. Ajanta and Ellora caves can be reached from there. Chalisgaon Railway Junction is just 4 km from the city center. The nearest airfield is Aurangabad Chikalthan Airport.
