Buldhana District is bordered by
Akola District in the east,
Parbhani District in the south and
Aurangabad District and
Jalgaon District in the west. It covers an area of 9,661 sq km.
Marathi is the official language. Buldhana District has a population of over 2.2 million, with a high literacy rate. Cotton, jowar, soyabean, tur, groundnut and moong are the major crops. It receives an annual rainfall of over 803 mm.
The main folk-arts are Gondhal, Bhajan and Keertan.
Lonar, the world's largest hyper velocity impact crater in basaltic rock lies in Buldhana District. The main
industrial areas are Mehkar, Deulgaon Raja, Sangrampur and Motala. Sindkhed Raja, Shegaon and
Dnyanganga Sanctuary are the tourist attractions.
